It’s that time of year again… well, that time was set to start in February. But, as typical, shit indeed doth happen and here we are.
Once a year, I come to you with hat in hand to raise money to keep the lights on and a roof over my head. Gigs and jobs only go so far, this year it doesn’t go far enough. Prices are rising, bills are getting larger, and housing is sky high during Florida’s “tourist season” (now through Memorial Day).
To make things worse, my landlord needed the cabin I was living in for her boyfriend’s family. He moved in, I had to move out. That was the end of 2025. I’m currently in a motel room that’s costing me $850 a week, and that’s the cheap end of prices around here this time of year.
So, what was set to start in February and go through (roughly) baseball’s spring training schedule has to start now and start behind the 8-Ball, as they say.
This year’s goal is $7,500. This covers temporary housing, utilities, subscriptions to watch and listen to the kind of stuff covered here, as well as a potential deposit on a permanent home base. It’s way better to try and blog from a long-term home than out of a suitcase or on the street.
